RUM RIVER
The Rum River is home to one of the best smallmouth rivers in Minnesota. The river begins its journey on the west side of Mille Lacs Lake and continues 151 miles to the Mississippi River in downtown Anoka. The river is known for its beautiful scenery and peaceful waters. The Rum provides a habitat for unforgettable smallmouth bass, northern pike, and walleyes that most people don’t even know live in this river. It consists of fast and high rushing water in the spring and slow, shallow waters in the summer and fall. The Rum River is truly a hidden gem in the northern suburbs of the Twin Cities. There are more bald eagles and deer than people and boats on most days. You will feel like you are “Up North” instead of 20 miles from Minneapolis!
